How To Knit Reversible Cables

Reversible cables make a cabled scarf so much more beautiful.

The "Palindrome" Reversible Cable Scarf

There is absolutely no reason not to put cables on your scarf, because once you know this trick, the cables will show up on both sides and you won’t have an ugly “wrong-side” to hide.

Reversible cables, which use the special properties of ribbing to accomplish the double-sidedness, can be used on 1×1 or 2×2 rib (2×2 rib is shown in the photo above).

Here’s how to do it:

In local news, I visited Cuenta Puntos, the flagship store of Araucanía Yarns in Santiago, Chile, last weekend.

You might be familiar with Araucanía’s Ranco sock yarn or their Nature Cotton. Here I got to see all their gloriously dyed yarns in every fiber combination and color.

I took home quite a bit of it! I also recorded some video on choosing yarn for the upcoming KnitFreedom video e-book Intermediate Scarves and Stitches.

Since shopping for yarn can work up quite an appetite, I re-fueled on one of Chile’s most artery-clogging traditional foods – I don’t remember how to say it, but “fries, meat, sausage, and onions topped with a fried egg” doesn’t even begin to describe how obscene this dish is. Oh my!

Traditional Chilean Gross Food - Fries, meat, sausage, and egg - together!!

Recovering from this meal was one of the reasons I was late on my post this week! (sort of…) I’ll be back this Friday with a great texture addition to your sock heels.
