About Liat Gat

KnitFreedom was founded by Liat Gat in 2010. Liat is an expert knitting instructor and videographer.

Liat used to teach sold-out live classes at her local yarn store (at one time having to stand on the table to make sure that everyone in the over-full class could see).

She realized that she could help many more students learn the most popular knitting techniques if she just focused on using video to teach people.

You’ll find that the knitting video courses Liat creates are extremely effective. She developed a method over the past few years of combining written explanations, illustrations, and patterns with clear and thorough HD knitting video demonstrations for each learning step.

The “Become a Knitting Superstar” video knitting course is her most popular class, the videos of which have been watched more than 2 million times.

Fun fact #1: “Liat” is a Hebrew name, pronounced Lee-AHT. Liat’s family is Israeli, but don’t message her in Hebrew, because she only speaks a little bit!

Fun fact #2: Liat has a B.A. in Latin and Greek from Vanderbilt University, which may explain why all those cryptic knitting abbreviations make sense to her.
